Button Man the Movie - update

As promised here is the latest news on possible Button Man feature film. June 26th 2010 I heard that Dreamworks have renewed their option on Button Man which is good news - not the best possible but good. They are still considering it, it could still happen, it is not ruled out, the possibility remains. Presently no movie movement but fingers crossed.
The image here was created for my amusement and does not indicate anything more. Steven Spielberg has not asked for my views on casting and, possibly not knowing this website exists, may never hear them.

Great news. Hope they make it into a futuristic version of Bourne Movie series and they get you to be the concept artist.

Anything less is sacrilidges in the extreme!

Hi. If it is made and if it were to be as good as Bourne I would be well pleased. No chance of my being involved. Such ideas I might have had went into the comic anyway.
Timothy DeBaets who is handling affaires in the US has said "keep the faith" so I will but I am not getting any younger.

I love Button Man and it's a good movie story but I personally suspect if it made it to the screens what they really want is the core idea and the rest won't really feel very like the strip: Since the character doesn't wear a costume, there are no other distinctive designs for anything else, it's set anywhere in the contemporary world and we know little about Harry's background or personality outside of the 'The Game', the movie people would flesh it out in their own way, bring a charismatic well-known actor to the role, and make it more moral so as not to confuse movie audiences. The distinctive things about the original strip are it's genius premise, it's cold, hard amorality, and it's beautiful artwork - by virtue of the film medium, only one of these will make it through.

Hi Adrian. You could be right. Did hear they were planning a love interest as "motivation" at one piont so anything could happen. But we can hope that what was in the comic that they liked initially will make it through. They have to decide they really want to do it first of course. Economic times are tough in Hollywood too I believe.

Read the paperback versions excellent and perfect for big screen. Hopefully a actor such as tom hardy gets the role and update it to these days, with Exton past as ex sas and mercenary perfect for today what with private military contractors in iraq an afghan which are dominated by ex paras, commandos and sas.

Hullo Anonomous,
glad you liked the book. 'Updated' I'm not sure I get. Would assume hand sets, guns and cars would be the current models but apart from that? Does the comic version look a particularly old fashioned world?
Liking the original as a 'less is more' construct see no reason to explain the who and why of Harry Exton. One imagines he has military experience, believe he was a mercenary alongside 'Carl'. Why go into background details? "Places please. Action!"
I Googled Tom Hardy pics and he might be OK. Not quite the jaw line I had in mind. Would still like Brad, especially now he is older.

We lately came thhougrout your posting and therefore are already examining along. I desire to communicate my personal admiration of your creating ability and ability to help to make target audience research by using the actual starting to the end. I must study newer posts and to talk about my ideas along with you.

Hullo Elizabeth,
thank you for the kind words.
No audience research here, just making it up as I go along.
Best'
